Memorial Day is here and it's likely that many of you will be spending some time with family and friends. (Be sure to Thank a soldier today!!) I wanted to also encourage you to take time for yourself.
As humans we all have complex minds, just by the fact that our minds our complex means that our minds, through no fault of our own, are prone to being problematic. Add on the fact everyone has had some type of trauma in their life, whether it was a big time violent trauma, or a smaller trauma like having to put your nose in corner in front of your 3rd grade class; we've all survived our own traumas. Which leads to many people being driven by some painful emotion at times. This leads to people "reacting" to situations versus being "proactive." Many times that can lead to feelings getting hurt, things being said, etc.
For some reason these situations seem to happen more around family than friends. Possibly because we know subconsciously that with friends are relationships are slightly more fragile than family. I'm sure you've heard the cliche that blood is thicker than water. My point is though take time for yourself even in the mix of a gathering of family and friends.
Have a safe, fun, and enjoyable holiday!

Get cleared
Did you know that you can arrange a private session with Dr. Connelly? It's as easy as calling 1-800-587-2623. If you are a survivor of sexual violence, suffering from PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief, guilt, or even anger Dr. Connelly is an amazing therapist who can help with all of those and probably more things than I mentioned.
I highly recommend private sessions with Jon for therapists training in Rapid Resolution Therapy. It's a great way to be healed and transformed and in doing so it also improves the work you do with your clients.

Resentment
Many people spend many years with some form of resentment about something or someone. It's an issue that comes up in a Rapid Resolution Therapy® session quite frequently. One of our Master Certified Practitioners; Courtney Armstrong, LPC recently did an AMAZING post about this very topic. Instead of rehashing it I thought I would just send you over to her blog to check it out...so just click right here!

A loved one's gratitude
The RRT community is small, like 200+ Certified and Master Certified Practitioners. We stay connected with each other, send each other referrals and provide feedback and professional consultation with each other. I am a part of this network through and through. I pick the brains of other RRT therapists and some pick mine.
One practitioner that communicates with me regularly (maybe because we both seem to spend a fair amount of time on Facebook) is David L. Johns, LMHC. He recently dropped me an e-mail noting he was in tears about a note he received from a relative of a client he had worked with. And this is what it said: (authorization was received on many levels before I posted this!)
I know I didn't get these kinds of thank you cards, notes, e-mails, etc until I became a Certified RRT therapist, and David noted the same.
In honor of this week, Thanksgiving and all, I wanted to share a relatives' expression of gratitude for the work that David did! GREAT job David!
If you live in Florida and are seeking RRT we have plenty of RRT therapists there, David is one of them...

Thank you for helping Tommy. He really is a different and happy person now. Happier than I have ever seen him! Hoping and praying he continues to do well.
Thank you
