I recently returned from the Level 1 training in Clinical Hypnosis with Rapid Trauma Resolution. Upon my return I had a conversation with Holly Craig, LPC who had also attended the training. At some point we began to discuss how therapists can be traumatized just by hearing the trauma that their clients have survived. In fact I have heard from numerous clients how previous therapists had glazed over their trauma, sat there as if in shock, or just offered them pamphlets about such trauma. To which Holly had this to say: "The thing that they survived isn't bigger than what you can do with it. It's not even happening to them any more."And that's so true.
For one the client sitting in front of you has survived that traumatic event. Not only survived it but made it into your office. It is in no way helpful to become upset ourselves, as therapists, about what happened to them. Clients have told me that therapists getting upset over what they have survived isn't helpful. They find it upsetting and they loose trust in the professional whom they came to for help.
In Rapid Resolution Therapy we learn to stay present with the client, create a deep connection, and understanding, so that we can effectively, painlessly, and quickly resolve the negative effects of the trauma that the client has been through. In doing so the RRT session will have a much bigger, and positive impact upon your client than the very thing they survived.
So when they leave they will have completed it and defeated it!

On the radio
A while back I (Tara S. Dickherber, LPC Executive Director of the Institute for Survivors of Sexual Violence) was interviewed by Erik Remmel on the internet radio station Life Improvement Radio for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I finally got a hold of the podcast, you can click here to listen.

Nobody leaves baby in the corner
Guess what?! Rapid Resolution Therapy® is effective for children too! And our RRT community is blessed with many certified practitioners that work with children in many different settings. Unfortunately some children are also survivors of sexual violence, childhood abuse, etc. Their minds will also have emotional, and behavioral responses to those traumas that isn't helpful to them. Children are no less haunted by the things they have survived than adults are.
In my private practice I do not work with children, the age range I work with is like high school and up. However I'm always amazed at how quickly and excitedly the teens respond to RRT®. I suspect part of it is they come in with some natural curiosity and another part is very few of them have been to counseling where it wasn't helpful. But the fact remains they get it fast, and their minds update fast!
So this week I want to give a shout out to all our certified practitioners who do use RRT® with the children they see (this list may not include everyone and is in no particular order but it's a start!!)

Gratitude
Mother's Day and Teacher Appreciation is approaching. These are great days to express our gratitude for our Mothers (biological or otherwise) and to our teachers. One way to do this is to present them with a gift that gives back. The ISSV™ has a bracelet designed and made by hand by Farrielledesign. All proceeds of this bracelet come directly back to the ISSV™. We also have been honored by Melanie Hofmann who is an amazing photographer. Her subject of choice is hummingbirds. She has a "store" on Cafe Press where you can have her pictures turned into mugs, calendars, T-shirts etc. A portion of the proceeds come back to the ISSV. And as you know any donations go towards treating survivors of sexual violence and training more and more clinical professionals in Rapid Resolution Therapy®, and all therapists certified in RRT agree to provide pro bono services to survivors who otherwise couldn't afford this cutting edge trauma treatment. Given the statistics that 1 in every 4 is a survivor of sexual violence and that every 2 minutes someone in the United States is sexually assaulted a gift of a bracelet or even a coffee mug will make a huge impact on someone's life somewhere in the United States!!

Sexual Assualt Awareness Month
Did you know that April is Sexual Assault Awareness month? The link I provided is the direct home of SAAM website, there you will find the history of SAAM, statistics about sexual assault, and more. This months IRRT newsletter I wrote an article about how RRT was very beneficial for a 12 year old who survived being molested 2 years prior to her first RRT session. (feel free to read this month's newsletter) This month the ISSV also dove into the world of grant proposal. An organization called GOOD Maker is having a grant competition. We put our name in the basket. The proposal had to be approved by GOOD, and it was, now it's up to public voting for the prize to be awarded. We would greatly appreciate more votes...first you have to join GOOD; which is free. Then you can go to our direct link here and vote. Next you will have to verify your e-mail address and then the vote is accepted. If we win the grant money will go to further fund training more clinical professional in RRT as well as treating survivors of sexual violence who otherwise couldn't afford such treatment!
Thank you for your time and support!

Get cleared
Did you know that you can arrange a private session with Dr. Connelly? It's as easy as calling 1-800-587-2623. If you are a survivor of sexual violence, suffering from PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief, guilt, or even anger Dr. Connelly is an amazing therapist who can help with all of those and probably more things than I mentioned.
I highly recommend private sessions with Jon for therapists training in Rapid Resolution Therapy. It's a great way to be healed and transformed and in doing so it also improves the work you do with your clients.

Amazing client testimonial
Vicki Foster Chavis:
“Just wanted to publicly say that Rapid Resolution Therapy® with Mark Chidley helped me end the 26 year long battle with a plane crash. Today we won the war!”
I was recently privileged to give a presentation on what Rapid Resolution Therapy® can do for trauma survivors. This was easy with the help of my former client, Vicki Chavis, a survivor of Delta 191, the crash that took place in 1985 and left only 27 survivors, most of whom were seated in the tail section, which tore off prior to the plane bursting into a fireball. She did an artful and convincing job explaining how after 26 years of emotional turmoil in and around planes, after my RRT session with her, she now flies without upset or incident. To prove the point, she took her son up in a bi-plane for his 2011 Christmas treat, just to feel the open cockpit experience! These are her photos from a beautiful day cruising the Florida Gulf above Sanibel Island. Thank you, Vicki, for so effectively helping me get the word out about Rapid Resolution Therapy®, the method pioneered by Jon Connelly.
